ABBS School of Management (ABBSSM), an autonomous business school in India, has introduced the Annadata Scholarship Scheme, an initiative that offers a 50 per cent tuition fee waiver to children of farmers enrolling in its Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) programme.
The term Annadata, meaning “giver of food,” is traditionally used as an expression of respect for farmers and their role in supporting the nation’s economy. Through this scholarship, ABBS seeks to provide students from farming families with greater access to management education and wider career opportunities.
Madhumita Chatterji, Director, ABBS School of Management, stated, “The Annadata Scholarship Scheme is positioned not only as financial support but also as a commitment to narrowing the rural urban education divide and enabling pathways from agriculture to management careers.”
The Annadata Scholarship Scheme offers a 50 per cent fee waiver for the two-year PGDM programme. Eligibility is limited to applicants who are children of farmers engaged in agriculture or allied activities, verified through government-issued farmer IDs, Kisan Credit Cards, or land records. Selection will be based on merit, financial background, and proof of farming profession, with the aim of supporting talented individuals from rural communities in developing into industry-ready leaders.
